Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 8, 2026. Actually processes submitted content and related metadata to generate counterarguments and publish shareable outputs. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

1. What we collect

Content you submit. URLs, pasted text, uploaded documents (.txt, .md, .docx, .pdf), and any article text we extract from those sources. This is the primary input we process to generate counterarguments.

Generated outputs. The counterarguments, headlines, summaries, images, and any other content our AI generates based on your submission.

Technical data. IP address, user agent, request timestamps, and error logs. We use this for abuse prevention, rate limiting, debugging, and service operations.

Published pages. When you choose to publish a result, we store the generated content on our publishing infrastructure to make it shareable via a public URL. These URLs are not indexed or discoverable unless you share them.

2. How we use your data

To provide the service. Fetching source content, generating counterarguments in serious or satire mode, creating published result pages, and delivering them to you.

To enforce limits. Preventing abuse, managing usage quotas, and ensuring fair access for all users.

To improve reliability. Analyzing extraction failures, model errors, and edge cases to make the service more robust.

To monitor health. Tracking service performance, uptime, and error rates so we can fix issues quickly.

3. Third-party services

Actually relies on the following third-party providers to operate:

  • Ollama Cloud / OpenRouter — Language model inference. Your submitted content is sent to these providers to generate counterarguments. We use gemini-3-flash-preview (non-thinking, reliable JSON output) as our primary model.
  • Unsplash — Image search and attribution for published articles. Only generated titles are sent to Unsplash, not your full content.
  • here.now — Static hosting for published pages. When you publish a result, the generated HTML is uploaded to here.now. here.now does not inject analytics scripts, tracking pixels, or cookies into published pages. They may retain server logs (IP address, request time) for operational and abuse-prevention purposes.
  • Cloudflare — CDN and DNS for thatsgood.info. Cloudflare processes requests at the edge and may collect aggregate, non-identifiable metrics (cache performance, error rates) via headers like cf-ray and NEL (Network Error Logging). No client-side tracking scripts are injected.
  • Vercel — Hosting and edge CDN for the Actually application itself. Vercel may collect request logs and performance metrics at the infrastructure level.

We do not sell your data to third parties. Data is only shared with providers as necessary to fulfill your request.

4. Browser session extraction (beta)

Actually offers an optional browser-session feature for extracting content from sites that block standard server-side fetching. If enabled:

  • The extraction happens through your local browser session, not ours.
  • We do not store your browser cookies, credentials, or session data.
  • Only the extracted article text is transmitted to our servers for processing.
  • This feature is explicit opt-in per request.

5. Data retention

Generated results. Counterarguments and related outputs are retained for operational and debugging purposes. You may request deletion of published pages by contacting us.

Cached extractions. Article text extracted from URLs may be cached briefly to improve performance and reduce repeated fetches.

Diagnostic logs. Error logs and technical metadata are retained for up to 90 days for troubleshooting and security analysis.

6. Your rights and choices

No cookies or tracking pixels. Actually does not use cookies, analytics scripts, or third-party tracking pixels on the app or in published pages. We do not track you across the web or build behavioral profiles.

Do not submit sensitive content. Do not submit content you are not authorized to process, or content containing passwords, financial data, health records, or other sensitive personal information.

Published pages. You control who sees your published pages. URLs are unguessable and not indexed. If you want a page removed, contact us with the URL.

Local storage. We use sessionStorage to temporarily save your input (URL, text, mode) during a browser session. This data never leaves your device and is cleared when you close the tab.

7. AI-generated content disclaimer

Counterarguments generated by Actually are AI-produced and may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies. They are not legal, financial, or professional advice. Always review and verify outputs before relying on or sharing them.

8. Children’s privacy

Actually is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such data, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to this policy

This policy may change as the product evolves. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Actually after changes means you accept the updated policy.
